Canada's World Junior selection camp wrapped up following two games vs. the Canadian USports clubs with final rosters announced Sunday evening. The rosters Canada fielded were comprised of players who were vying for the last spots on the team, with the locks mostly sitting during the camp such as 2021 No. 1 pick Owen Power, No. 3 pick Mason McTavish, returning players Cole Perfetti and Kaiden Guhle, and 2022 projected No. 1 pick Shane Wright.
The forwards cut were Nashville's Luke Evangelista, Vegas' Zach Dean, Washington's Hendrix Lapierre, Islanders' William Dufour, Toronto's Ryan Tverberg, Tampa Bay's Jack Finley and Montreal's Joshua Roy. The two defensemen cut were Minnesota's Daemon Hunt, who was injured in Sunday's game, and Washington's Vincent Iorio.
Lapierre was the most noteworthy of the cuts. He is a first-round pick by Washington in 2020 who played NHL games this season, scored in the NHL and was part of that great Hlinka Gretzky group in 2019.
The remaining group will head for Banff for team building before the start of Canada's pre-tournament games.
