YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior women's golfer Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) continues to add to her lengthy resume of accomplishments. Already having been selected EMU College of Business' Outstanding Entrepreneurship Student of the Year, Sripatrprasite was crowned Miss Tourism World Thailand 2020.

Sripatrprasite will serve as a tourism ambassador and represent Thailand at the Miss World Tourism (MTW) contest. She was previously selected 2014 Miss Teen Thailand International and 2015 Miss Teen International. Additionally, she is also a host for the Thailand Golf Channel.

The contest was created to help to revive tourism in Thailand after the world-wide pandemic of COVID-19.  Miss Tourism World Thailand partnered with Amazing Thailand and the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) to find its first Thailand Tourism ambassador.

More than 200 applications were accepted before the field was narrowed to 77 provincial candidates. Initially, Sripatrprasite was selected to become the Surin Province Tourism ambassador for a month. Then on July 25 at the Crystal Design Center in Bangkok, she was selected as Miss Tourism World Thailand 2020. Sripatrprasite will now have to work closely with Amazing Thailand in order to promote Thailand's tourism along with the opportunity to represent Thailand in the upcoming Miss Tourism World pageant.

"Beauty pageants have always been something I loved watching," Sripatrprasite said. "Being crowned Miss Tourism World Thailand 2020 still seems like a dream to me. By having three precious crowns and a title to hold when I'm just 20-years-old is beyond what I can imagine. Thank you to MTW ASIA and all the judges for seeing what I'm capable of and believing in me in order to help my beloved country during this time. I will hold this title with pride and I promise to do everything in my power to create a positive impact in our tourism economy."

Back on the course, Sripatrprasite recorded an average of 75.90 in seven tournaments for the Eagles in 2019-20. The Bangkok, Thailand product notched her first collegiate medalist honor at the Low Country Invitational with a two-over 144 (72-72). Her 144 performance ranks as the third-lowest 36-hole tally in EMU history. The junior closed with a 73 to finish in a tie for ninth-pace with a 223 (74-76-73) at the Rio Verde Invitational. Sripatrprasite placed ninth at the season opener, Cardinal Classic, where she posted a team-best low-round score of 70 in the third round.

For her efforts in the classroom, she was named for the third-time an All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). To be eligible for the honor, the candidate must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

"We are so proud of our own Preaw Sripatrprasite for being crowned Miss Tourism World Thailand," added EMU Head Golf Coach Stephanie Jennings. "This has been a focused journey for her since she returned to her homeland amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and she will be a tremendous representative of her country."
