World War II historian Vincent Sweeney will be the guest speaker when the Friends of the Murrieta Library meet 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, via Zoom.
Sweeny was scheduled to speak at the group’s April meeting, which was canceled because of coronavirus pandemic shutdowns.
At the online meeting, Sweeney will tell stories of his interviews with World War II veterans and his program will include stories of World War II prisoners of war held by the Japanese, according to a news release.
Sweeney himself was not a prisoner of war, but he has interviewed many former prisoners of war and gathered records and data, according to the news release.
The Friends of the Murrieta Library provide support to the Murrieta Public Library through fundraising, advocacy and volunteerism. The group also promotes awareness of and support for the library.
